The Texas Hill Country is a great area to explore, on foot or pedal. Texas offers many different environments to enjoy a bike ride, from sandy beaches to deserts. None, obviously, compare to the scenic hills in the heart of Texas.
If you’re looking for an outdoor adventure in the Kerrville area, definitely try renting a bike or bringing yours on vacation. There’s a few popular trails around town and a dozen or so self-guided or even group rides in the community!
Self-Guided Bike Tours
Hill Country State Natural Area in Bandera and Medina is perfect for both beginners and advanced bikers. The full bike trail is 40-miles with plenty of steep hills and terrain for biking enthusiasts.
The Sawicki’s Favorite Hill Country Challenge is a loop of 53 miles starting and ending in Fredericksburg. It follows country roads that are lighting traveled by cars, providing a scenic rolling hills experience for bicyclists and a couple challenging climbs.

Group Rides
Hill Country Bicycle Works offer two group road rides a week in Kerrville and in Fredericksburg. On Wednesdays, they even offer a family friendly mountain bike ride that starts at Kerrville Schreiner Park. Many of the rides are offered year-round so long as the weather doesn’t interfere. During winter, they tend to meet up a few hours earlier.
